Letter from Nicol

Hi,
My name is Nicol Lev and I am a 12 year old competitive figure skater.
My passion and love for figure skating is something I'll always have.
My dream is to be an Olympic figure skater, and I would love to be able to be known as an Olympic Champion Figure Skater.
I train at the Mariposa National Training Skating Centre in Barrie, very dedicated to my sport and take my skating very seriously.
My training is very expensive and my family sacrifices a lot, so that I can make it to the top. So far, my parents have been doing the best they can to cover my skating expenses, and I am thankful for everything they do for me.
Many very talented skaters have had to stop competitive when the expenses became more than their families could afford. I do not want to become one of those skaters. My parents have managed to fund my skating so far, but as I progress in my skating I need more and it is becoming almost impossible for my parents.
The only way I can achieve my goals and reach my dream is through sponsors, and I would be very grateful for any additional financial support to help me reach my dream. I am looking for both individuals and companies to support me at any level.
If you choose to have your business sponsor me, I would be more than happy to represent you at the competitions I go to by advertising for your company. Sponsorships will also receive a thank-you ad with logo on the pages of my web site , and I will send you an autographed photo of me.

Letter from Nicol's parents

Dear Sponsor,

Nicol is a 12 year old competitive figure skater and is a straight A+ 7th grade homeschool student. She works very hard trying to complete her school work in addition to all that she has to do, to help her with her skating dream and goals.

She is a very serious and dedicated figure skater who knows that her hard work will eventually pay off both on and off the ice.
Nicol has all of her full jumps, landed the Axel jump, and is currently working on her double jumps. She started skating shortly before she turned 6, even then she made it look so easy! She spends 10 hours a week on the ice, and loves every minute that she spends on the ice.
Nicol dreams to represent Canada in International competitions and eventually become an Olympic Gold Medallist. We have been told by several top level coaches, which have seen Nicol's skating, that she has the talent and ability to go far in this sport.
As Nicol continues to move up in the levels, the expenses will continue to rise. Many very talented skaters have had to stop competitive skating when the expenses became more than their families could afford. We have managed somehow to fund Nicol's skating thus far, but we know that for Nicol to reach her dream, we will need the help of sponsors.
Nicol won all her competitions. She has 11 gold medals and 1 bronze medal from all figure skating events.
All though she loves her medals, she says that the best part of competing is just doing her best and she loves performing in front of an audience.
We are very proud of her and all of her successes!
Some of you that read this might wonder why are we asking for help when she is still at a relatively early stage in competitive skating? The answer is simply this: we believe in Nicol's talent, her deep commitment and dedication that she shows every day to the sport. We believe that she is going to continue to excel, but we know we are an average middle income family and we also have her sister to support with her dreams and goals.
We will continue to support Nicol with all that we have, but without the help of sponsors, we know that realistically, we won't be able to afford Nicol to reach her dream. We would hate to see Nicol's talents never be fully known, and her dream to end because the costs became too far out of reach.
Figure skating is an extremely expensive sport, which is not backed by a school, recreational facility or city. All expenses are paid by the parents only, and there are plenty of costs with being a competitive figure skater: boots and blades, sharpening fees, coaching fees, choreographer fees, music, costumes, practice clothes, photography and videotaping, travel expenses, competition fees, travel expenses for coach, and ice time. Then there are the extras that most skaters are in need of: dance lessons, off ice training, conditioning, and personal trainers.

This is where you as a sponsor can help. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be as little as $1.00 or as much as YOU want to donate. No amount is too small to help. Every little bit helps!
